Inspired by Jo Cox MP, the Great Get Together is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate that we have more in common than that which divides us. This annual community event is held on the closest weekend to Jo Cox’s birthday, and in 2022 it will take place between 24-26 June.

Great Get Togethers take place anywhere and everywhere!

Around the UK, ordinary people are planning, friends and family are organising, and Chorlton High students are rehearsing for this wonderful weekend. Everyone, from all backgrounds, united around a common cause in their area; celebrating cohesion or LGBT+ pride, tackling loneliness or bridging divides.

In partnership with Refugee Week, the theme of the Great Get Together 2022 is welcome.

Look out and enjoy local events and activities (there’s thousands!) in parks and community centres, on streets, at allotments, and in schools, across the country.

At Chorlton High, our students, in collaboration with local community groups and arts organisations, have created, and are currently rehearsing (over 100 and counting!), an exciting programme of events for our Beelong Festival. Funded by the National Lottery, Beelong takes place over a week, incorporating a range of enrichment opportunities, talks, and reading activities for our students. It celebrates the amazing cultural heritage within our school and culminates in our very own Great Get Together.

Fabulous food and fabulous fashion will feature alongside an array of stalls, conversation and sharing. A colourful blast of music, lights, and movement will round out the event. Our incredible dancers will take centre stage as they perform an incredible Bollywood showcase!

Extend the hand of welcome to others, bring different people together and demonstrate “we have more in common than that which divides us” – Jo Cox.
