The Workshop Teaching Children About Radicalisation
Earlier this year, our whole school councillors were invited to watch a performance and attend a workshop on ‘radicalisation’ provided by Odd Arts, Manchester, along with the Home Office of Manchester City Council and the Huffington Post. The performance explained themes such as hate and anger, and the interactive nature of the performance provided our students with a better understanding of how we would deal with radicalisation.
The Huffington Post was invited to film a short documentary of the performance in collaboration with the Home Office of Manchester City Council, and consequently, a selection of our student councillors and staff were interviewed afterwards. They answered questions relating to radicalisation and hate, discussing the Manchester arena attack and the ways this event has effected them and the communities around them. #WeStandTogether

The Workshop Teaching Children About Radicalisation
According to the Home Office, the UK faces a severe threat from Islamist terrorism for at least another two years and the threat from extreme right-wing terrorism has evolved and is growing. In the past six years, four terrorist attacks in the UK were carried out by the extreme right-wing. Reports: UK speaks to people directly impacted by extremism and radicalisation. Odd Arts, a theatre group in Manchester, performs workshops at schools aiming to increase awareness of how isolation and vulnerability can lead to becoming radicalised. Huffington Post
