‘World Book Day is a significant moment for us to acknowledge and celebrate. Igniting a passion for reading is at the heart of our curriculum design in English which can be seen in the diverse range of perspectives and topics covered in the texts students are exposed to in lessons. We encourage students to not only engage with the texts in lessons, but to also read for pleasure as this is where genuine passion for reading can be created and sustained over time. Reading independently and for pleasure is such a key habit for students to form, not only does it allow them to build their knowledge, vocabulary and reading fluency, it also inspires creativity and can be a real source of joy.’
