Organised by Manchester Youth Council, The Youth Buzz Awards are a wonderful opportunity to spotlight and celebrate Manchester’s extraordinary young people from across our amazing city.
The awards celebrate Young Mancunians aged from 11-19 who have made very real differences within their communities during 2022. They recognise and reward young people for the fantastic things they do for the benefit of others.
They are organised by Manchester City Council – and this year Chorlton High was shortlisted for four amazing school projects, across three categories!
Making a Difference Award: Our EAL Young Interpreters Scheme was shortlisted for this award that recognises an individual or a group that used their skills, initiative and organisation to achieve significant, positive and lasting change in the lives of young people.
Best Social Action group Award: We have two school projects shortlisted in this category which This award ‘recognises a group who has shown incredible examples of teamwork, advocacy and effective social action. They have worked together to make a difference for their local community and have had an impact on a group in society to improve their quality of life’. This was our ‘Unlocking Potential students’ and our work on the Community Pledge.
Community Champion Award: The work of the whole School Council was shortlisted for this award that recognises a young person or a group that has taken action and raised the profile of their community through their organisation, skills and hard work. They demonstrated how ‘their actions have impacted on the lives of young people and the community’.
Held at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, the 2023 Awards Ceremony was a phenomenal event, bringing together a wealth of creative, compassionate and dedicated young people for an evening of cheer and celebration.
