Cookery Workshop with Hear and Parcel

Heart and Parcel, an organisation who work to bring communities together by making dumplings and helping to develop ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), ran an amazing cookery workshop for students who have recently arrived at CHS speaking little English.

This brilliant workshop combined the teaching of English through conversation and the process of cooking a range of fun and delicious snacks. Our EAL (English as Additional Language) students worked with their CHS Young Interpreter Mentors, bilingual students that are fluent in English, to produce food that was enjoyed and shared at a special parent lunch event.

Our huge thanks to Heart and Parcel for your inspirational work, and thanks to all students and parents for a fun filled lunch!

Creative Writing Workshop with Portico Library.

We celebrated our talented bilingual communities, inviting Year 4 students from Chorlton Park Primary School to our CHS library to take part in a Creative Writing Workshop!
Our Primary learners were supported by bilingual CHS students, whilst working alongside Reece Williams, Poet and Mentor from the Portico Library, Manchester. Together they explored their identity and culture to create poetry inspired by their own lives and languages.

A huge thank you to all who took part in this engaging and fun activity.

The poems will be displayed and communicated around both Chorlton Park Primary School and CHS.
