Chorlton High School recently embarked on a new journey of community and connection with our first-ever Iftar, the evening meal that breaks the daily Ramadan fast. This multi-faith event proved to be a powerful experience that strengthened our commitment to creating a true Community of Belonging and also recognising the sacrifice of Lent for our Christian community.
The Iftar provided a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity of our school. Students and staff, from different backgrounds and beliefs, came together to share a meal, fostering understanding and respect. It was a beautiful example of how shared experiences can break down barriers and build bridges within our community.
The spirit of choosing love and small acts of kindness were at the heart of the Iftar. Students extended hospitality to one another, sharing food and conversation. The atmosphere was one of warmth, generosity, and genuine connection. It was a reminder that in our differences, we can find common ground and celebrate our shared humanity.
As we look back on our first Iftar, we are reminded of the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcome, valued, and included. This event has set a positive precedent for future celebrations and further strengthens our commitment to building a school where everyone belongs.
