The Prospere Learning Trust delivers a high quality, evidence-based training experience in a caring environment. Subject and professional development training is facilitated by a community of experienced, passionate, dedicated and committed teachers and leaders.
We know what teachers need in order to be successful. This relates to subject knowledge, developing classroom practice and self-management as a new member of the teaching profession. Our emphasis is on you as an individual, as you learn about school life and receive expert led training sessions. Trainees will be guided and supported by personal Subject Mentors and a dedicated teacher training team as they step into the classroom and become part of a school community.
The model enables a more personalised approach, one that encourages trainees to develop their teaching persona, build their skill levels, whilst also learning how to manage workload and wellbeing as they embrace the life of a teacher.
“In what can be a rather full-on year at times, the support I have received through the School Centred route has made my training year not only a success, but truly enjoyable. I couldn’t recommend this route enough!” Ella
Our school centred teacher training programme is led by outstanding teaching professionals working across the Prospere Learning Trust and our accredited provider Bright Futures SCITT. This approach allows trainees to become a Trainee Teacher in a placement school from the very first day of their training. Trainees are fully immersed in school life and quickly become a valued member of the department and whole school team.
Our offer is bespoke to the individual needs of the trainee and a progression model of development allows areas of strength and areas for improvement to be swiftly identified. The provision is a combination of practical training, both within and outside of the classroom, and is complemented by an academic focus. Our school-centred courses offer a full Postgraduate Certificate in Education awarded by our accredited provthe University of Manchester and Qualified Teacher Status.
“The structure of the course and the members of staff in the Trust that I have met along the way have made this experience one that I will never forget. I couldn’t have asked for a better provision.” Temi
The Prospere Learning Trust is a high performing, unique and innovative Trust comprising of four mainstream high schools and five special schools, both primary and secondary. We have a strong belief in providing every child in the Trust the opportunity to develop the life skills necessary to become confident, successful and happy future citizens. The schools have a reputation for embracing innovation, creativity and for having high academic standards.
As part of our offer, we want to be able to broaden the horizons of trainee teachers by coordinating research and enhancement visits to our special schools, to enable trainees to learn more about strategies to support young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in mainstream schools. Indeed, educational research plays a pivotal role in our Trust, and our trainees will benefit from ample opportunity to engage with this.
All schools in our Trust hold national wellbeing awards, and we firmly believe that in order to be a great teacher, it is important to learn how to manage your workload from the outset. During your Initial Teacher Training, calendared sessions are delivered to help trainees to build strategies and collaborative networks in order to create good habits for the future.
“Excellent experience, very grateful to have been given the opportunities on the ITT provision. Professional and Subject mentors have been fantastic. Would highly recommend in future to other potential trainees.” Josh
