Figen Murray - A Message of Hope and Kindness
9th Apr 2025

Chorlton High School was honoured to once again welcome Figen Murray, who shared her powerful story and message with students across all Year groups.

Figen spoke about Martyn's Law, the now successful campaign for enhanced security measures at public venues inspired by the tragic loss of her son, Martyn Hett, in the Manchester Arena attack. The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill has officially become law after it was given Royal Assent by King Charles.

Beyond the vital message of Martyn's Law, Figen's visit also emphasised the profound power of forgiveness, the necessity to remain hopeful in the face of adversity, and the importance of focusing on being kind. Her words resonated deeply with students as she shared her personal journey and the strength she found in choosing compassion.

Figen's visit served as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to find light even in the darkest of times. Her message of hope and kindness left a lasting impact on our students, inspiring them to embrace empathy and build a more compassionate community.
