Express Yourself, Support Others: Students' Art Promotes Wellbeing
Our medical room has been transformed into a vibrant space thanks to a communal art project by our able young creatives.
Combining the talents of Years 9, 10, and 11, this project not only developed a powerful and immersive mural design but also strengthened inter-year communities through conversation and collaboration.
Flowers, faces, spirals, and waves. Space and stillness. Action and pride.
It is wonderful to see students flourish within our enrichment opportunities, expressing themselves candidly, proudly, and poignantly in support of others. Their art has intention beyond its visual appeal, converting an empty wall into a living and moving expression of belonging with their brilliant mark-making, colour, and energy.
The space feels validated, personal, and confident, a place to open-up or drift away. It engages with empathy and enables new thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
At the heart of this project lies our 20-year relationship working with the mental health charity, '42nd Street,' and backing for their mission 'to support young people with their emotional well-being and mental health by offering a choice of effective, creative, young person-centred, and rights-based approaches.' This project could not have happened without their support.
Our thanks to Richard Moosbally (42nd Street), for guiding our core creative group with insight, patience and exceptional encouragement.
