Over the bridge are 3 cricket nets that are for all students to use. Ask the teacher on duty to get the cricket equipment out of the lock up and start to play. Make sure you return everything how you found it to ensure safe, future use.
Basketballs can be loaned from and returned to, student services. The court can be used in the main playground for a full match or both ends can be used separately.
You can bring your own football and play over the bridge at break and lunch. There will also be a number of footballs available to loan. Also, at break whichever year has assembly that day can use the AstroTurf for a small football tournament.
Table-tennis bats and balls are always available to loan from the teacher who is on duty. Ask the closest teacher to the tables for the bats and balls and please ensure that you look after the equipment to ensure safe future use. Thank you.
THE STUDY CENTRE
The study centre is available at break and lunch to catch up on work, complete homework and/or to prepare for forthcoming examinations. Year 11 will be prioritised as we approach the forthcoming GCSE examinations but if there is space all will be accommodated.
A small quiet space to sit and read during break and lunch. Staff will ensure that this space remains quiet and focused on relaxation.
Our outdoor area has lots of benches for you to sit and chat with friends. If the weathers nice you could work outside, read a book or just enjoy the sunshine and recharge your batteries before your next lesson.
Our outdoor gym equipment is to be used at break or lunch. We have chin up bars, dip machines, balance bars, step up facilities and sit up benches that also double up as press up benches. Set yourself a target to beat or train with your friends whatever the weather.
Our library is open before school 0800-0830, at break and after school for one hour. It is a wonderfully resourced provision with professional help on hand from our expert librarians. It does get very busy and holds approximately 80 students so get there early to avoid disappointment.
Our canteen provides adequate seating for you to sit with friends, complete homework, relax, chat, play card games, board games or read in a safe sociable environment.
THE DAILY MILE
The Daily Mile is simple and everyone can do it. Walk, run or jog, at your own pace, with your friends, making you fitter, healthier, and more able to concentrate in the classroom. Five times around the double netball court over the bridge is exactly one mile.
We have numerous homework clubs that can be attended or use your initiative and attend the study centre, library, the haven or any other quiet space to complete your homework. Why stop there? You could always look deeper into a subject with staff and students around who can offer support and assistance.
EAT, DRINK, RE-FUEL
We have packs of cards, UNO, Connect 4 and Draughts that can be loaned from student services and used during break and lunch.
