Over the next term we want to develop our communication with parents in a way that will be more environmentally friendly and more cost effective.
To help us with this we are introducing a new service – School Gateway. This will let us communicate with parents quickly and cost effectively via email, text and smartphone app. Our aim is to become a paperless school for parent communication from September this year, and we are introducing School Gateway to help us with this.
You may well have heard that school budgets are under enormous pressure. Sending information out to parents by post currently costs the school a significant amount in terms of paper, postage and staff time. Our hope is that by reducing the costs in this area we can protect funding to those areas that directly affect our students. By downloading the School Gateway App can help us save money. We will be able to send you app messages (avoiding the costs of texts) and you can send messages back for free too. In addition to this you will be able to see more information about your child, including their attendance and latest timetable.
It’s quick and easy to download the app. All you need is your email address and mobile number that school holds on record for you. If you have a smartphone you can download the ‘School Gateway’ app from your app store (Android and iPhone). If you have trouble logging in, please contact the school on 0161 8821150 and we can check the details that we have for you.
Please note: emails from the system will have the sender SC3524281a@schoolcomms.com and text messages will come from the number +441915800964. We suggest you set up the email address as a safe sender and save the number in your phone as “CHS Message”.
We’re aiming to get at least 75% of parents using the School Gateway smartphone app – please help us achieve this.
If you do not have a smartphone, you will still receive text messages from the school and can access the School Gateway website to view attendance and timetable information.
In addition to parents being able to use the School Gateway app, students can also access the app. It would let them access their timetables and receive reminders about exams, trips and events. Students have told us that they would find access to this useful. In order for your child to do this, we need your consent to give us their email address and mobile phone number. Please review the information provided and return the signed form to school if you are happy for your child to be able to access the app. Your child has also been given a copy of the form at school.
