You may be aware from recent media coverage that we have been notified by the Department for Education (DfE) that CHS South was one of the 111 Free Schools that have been approved to move to the ‘Pre-Opening’ phase from the recent Wave 12 application round.
I am absolutely delighted that our proposal for CHS South has been successful and look forward to working with the Department for Education in establishing this new school in our local community.
I am particularly excited to develop our new school replicating the strengths of our existing provision at Chorlton High School and look forward to creating additional high quality secondary school places in the Central / South Manchester area.
I know many people will want more information about our proposal, including where the school will be located and when the school will open. We do not have that information yet and will need to enter into discussion with the DfE about the details of our plans. Unfortunately the announcement of the general election means that some decisions regarding the development of our project will be delayed until after the election has taken place.
As soon as I have clear information I will notify all stakeholders and will hold a series of information meetings regarding the planning for the new school.
I would like to thank all the parents, community members and project partners who have supported us through the application process. This high level of local support has been incredibly important to our application and we look forward to working closely with all our supporters as we realise our exciting new school.
