Year 7-9 Progress Tests

What are the progress tests?

In class tests which are a mix of multiple choice, short, medium and long answer questions which test pupil's knowledge of what they have been taught that term and since the beginning of the year. Please see our CHS Guide to Learning for more information on why we have introduced these tests.

When are these tests?

Summer Term: Monday 12th June - Friday 23rd June 2017

What to revise?

Most Curriculum Areas highlight the students' exercise books as the most important tool for revision purposes. The tests are predominantly on what has been covered over the past term although content of the test builds up over the academic year. It is also worth referring to the 'Frameworks For Learning' for further information.

How to revise?

Revision is a skill that learners need to familiarise themselves with. Our Secrets of Success Revision Guide should provide you with some ideas of how to revise.

Doddle

Doddle is a new online teaching and learning resource for students at CHS that will replace Frog Learn as an online homework system. Doddle allows students to access and complete their homework online and it also has a bank of learning and revision materials that students can access at any time. Computer access is available every night after school in F52 (Doddle Club), F13 (Homework Support) and the library. There are staff available at each venue to support students with their learning and it also provides the opportunity for students to work collaboratively and develop positive learning habits. Doddle can be accessed at www.doddlelearn.co.uk. For more information please see the Parents' Factsheet.

Feedback from the tests

Students should receive feedback from two sources. Firstly they will receive a raw score - which tells them how many marks they have gained; this will be supported by some analysis of how they have done in particular areas, with strengths highlighted along with specific areas for development.

Secondly, we will send home short reports with Progress Statements on which are a comparison of how students have done compared to students with a similar starting point. These are useful to see how well students are progressing and also how much effort is being made in each subject area.
